Paul and the Patients :: The Way That You Are [via]
This is The Two Man Gentlemen Band playing, “Me, I Get High On Reefer,” from their newest album, ¡Dos Amigos Una Fiesta!.
The Two Man Gentlemen Band is an accurately-named act that plays prohibition-era style cabaret music, but flavored with an extra dose of double-entendres. I think they might be best described as the Ambiguously Gay Duo of modern speakeasy bands. When you listen to songs like “When Your Lips are Playing My Kazoo,” and “There’s Something in My Trousers,” and “Put it in My Ear (When You Make That Music),” it is difficult to not have at least a chuckle at their silly innuendos. These musicians obviously have fun when they are playing, and that makes it easy for the listener to have fun.
This is music to have fun to. If you know the Charleston, grin and do the Charleston, if you don’t, at least drink some bathtub gin and play yourself some air-ukulele.
There aren’t many folks playing this kind of music these days (C.W. Stoneking, I guess?), so The Two Man Gentlemen Band something unique to put on. Break up a tedious folksy playlist with something different.
Sincerely,
Reverend Harris

Miami Horror - Holidays (featuring Alan Palomo)
Be careful when the beat takes a hold of you, it could get nasty.
via katiepierce:
It’s no secret that I think anything Alan Palomo touches turns to gold. This is no exception. Australian Ben Plant, (aka Miami Horror) just released his new album entitled Illumination and Palomo is featured on a couple tracks. Get it while it’s hot!!!!
The MTV Video Music Awards need a new category for Best (only) Interactive/Online Video Making Use of HTML 5 and Google Earth. Arcade Fire, you win. For “We Used to Wait,” director Chris Milk has tapped into the unlimited pathos of Google, setting a running man, birds and aerial views against a backdrop of THE NEIGHBORHOOD YOU GREW UP IN. Type in your childhood address and proceed to feel extremely nostalgic and probably a little sad when the whir of Arcade Fire’s yearning vocals punctuate the realization that the tree evergreen your mom planted when you were like ten is now a hundred feet high. This thing is a feat of the emotional powers of technology. It is also both supremely awesome and extremely messed up! Of course you will need to download Google Chrome to watch it, but trust us, it’s worth it. Steel yourself for the onslaught and check it over here. (via Stereogum)[via]
